Magnolia

magnolia heaven scent © 2013Beautifully fragrant flowers in tones of dark pink. Large tulip-shaped blooms that form a cup and saucer effect. Considered a hardy performer. Will form a large shrub or small tree.
 
Origin: New Zealand

Magnolia Jane PlattA stellata form celebrated for its large pale pink flowers. Considered one of the best of the pink flowering forms. 'Jane Platt' is named after a well respected plantswomen from Portland, Oregon - the plant was first seen in her amazing garden.

magnolia phillip tregunna © 2013A vivid purple flowering form that produces large blooms early in the season. The first seedling was described from Lanhydrock Gardens in Cornwall in 1967 but the origin is unknown.
magnolia prisitine © 2013A hardy variety producing pure white blooms. Forms a rounded tree to approx. 5m.
magnolia royal crown © 2013A vigorous grower that forms a rounded tree. Will produce a terrific display at a young age. Purple-pink buds open to pale pink blooms with long petals.

magnolia shiraz © 2013A large tree - can reach a height of 6m, with rich burgundy tulip-shaped blooms. Flowers open out flat when mature creating a magnificent show of intense colour.
magnolia start wars © 2013A deciduous and fast growing variety. 'Star Wars' has large flowers, beginning with dark red buds opening to pink and rewards with a long flowering period. Protect from wind. Best planted in a full sun to partly shaded position.
magnolia wadas memory © 2013This is a popular variety with large white flowers that are produced in profusion. Early leaves are bronze and fade to green as they age. 'Wada's Memory' matures into a pyramidal shape making a lovely contrast against more rounded trees. Fast growing and produces golden tones in autumn.

Magnolia x sunspireThis variety is loved for its yellow flower colour and its upright growth habit. ‘Sunspire’ is ideal for small gardens and narrow spaces. Said to have “the best yellow flower of any Magnolia on the market.”

magnolia x loebneri leonard messel © 2013This small rounded tree grows to around 25 feet tall. It is a cross of M. kobus and M. stellata 'Rosea'. It has lovely star-shaped flowers with narrow petals - white on the inside and pink on the outside.The blossoms are fragrant and appear before the leaves in early to mid-spring.
