chimonanthus praecox(Wintersweet or Japanese Allspice) Widely grown as an ornamental plant for its scented flowers. A tiny sprig is enough to fill a room with its spicy fragrance. Chimonanthus means 'winter flowered', and praecox means 'early'. It flowers early in the season and its little lemon bells last for months.
