Description
Italian Maple. A deciduous tree with pinkish grey bark. Acer opalus is a medium-sized deciduous tree 20 metres (66 ft) tall , with a trunk up to 1 m diameter. The glossy green leaves are 7–13 centimetres long and 5–16 centimetres wide, palmate lobed with blunt teeth. They turn bright gold in autumn. Europe endemic from the hills and mountains of southern and Western Europe, Italy , Spain and north into southern Germany, and also into northwest Africa including Morocco and Algeria .
