Large tree having flattened foliage on horizontal branches. Excellent near the coast.A tree growing 50-70m tall with a narrowly conical crown in its native Norfolk Island. The branches are in whorls of 4-7.Juvenile leaves are soft and awl-shaped,10-20mm long,bowed inwards and not overlapping,adult leaves are shorter,almost scale-like,forming a cord-like branch tip.The cones are spherical,12x12cm. The Norfolk Island pine has long been cultivated as an ornamental tree in wamr climates and as a house plant in temperate ones.Hardiness zone 9.
