Description
(Kahili ginger, Kahila garland-lily, or ginger lily in Australia. Endemic to Himalayas of India, Nepal, and Bhutan. A clumping perennial 2-2.4 metres tall , that will naturalize a garden bed. Long bright green foliage on tall stems. The very fragrant pale yellow and red flowers in tall dense spikes , above the foliage. Flowering heavily at the end of summer. In cooler moister areas they can grow in full sun , although in slight or heavier shade with some water will be far more attractive in the landscape. Note these Gingers are cold climate hardy , compared to their more tropical relatives & perfect in southern Australian winters.
