Knightia excelsa (Rewarewa or New Zealand Honeysuckle) is an evergreen tree native to New Zealand that can thrive in Australian gardens, particularly in temperate to subtropical regions. It features narrow, serrated dark green leaves and produces striking, bottlebrush-like red flowers in spring and early summer, which attract birds and bees. This tree grows well in well-drained soils, full sun to partial shade, and is moderately drought-tolerant once established. It can reach heights of 10–20 meters, making it a great choice as a feature tree or for creating privacy in larger gardens.
