Description
In China Osmanthus flowers are infused with green or black tea leaves creating a scented tea (???, guìhu?chá).
Osmanthus jam is an ingredient in a type of gruel called chát?ng (??), added to sorghum or millet flour and sugar with boiling water. Osmanthus fragrans (Sweet Olive) has massed small white flowers , we also grow Osmanthus fragrans aurantiacus with Gold flowers.
I imported Osmanthus fragrans Orange Supreme ( gold ) & Live Oak Gold (yellow) also. Large shrubs with finely toothed leaves. Flowers deliciously perfumed in Summer-Autumn, smelling of apricots. Used in perfuming tea. Young shoots often burn in heavy frost.
Family: Oleaceae … Endemic to Asia from the Himalayas through South China to Taiwan, southern Japan and Southeast Asia as far south as Cambodia and Thailand.
