Description
A fast-growing, large to very large broadly conical tree primarily of economic importance though impressive as a single specimen feature in an arboretum or estate. Leaves about 2cm long, rigid, and sharply pointed, green above, marked with 2 glaucous bands beneath, spreading all round the branchlets, or sometimes loosley parted below. Cones to 10cm long, yellowish brown when young. A remarkable, prickly leaved spruce, thriving particularly well in damp sites.
