Description
A small tree with glaucous, fan-shaped cladodes up to 2.5-5cm long, usually toothed or lobed. Suitable only for a conservatory or sheltered corners in the mildest areas.A shurub or tree up to 15m tall in montane temperate rainforest from near sea level to 1,200m in the Central Highlands of Tasmania.On the treeline at higher altitudes it is only a low shrub.The phylloclades are very distinctive in size and form,mostly simple,often rhombic or fan-shaped,3-5cm long and half as wide,flushing reddish and turning to green.The pollen-cones are 1-5,pink turning yellow,5-8mm long.The seed-cones are carmine-red;the seeds exserted,black,2.5mm long.Hardiness zone 9.
